We are saddened to learn that the boat the Exocet, well known to many of us, struck a reef eight days ago ...
We contacted Hélène, one of the cornerstones of Diving Attitude, who told us more:
“Indeed, we confirm the info. The Exocet struck a reef while leaving its anchorage on the lagoon of Sataya yesterday morning at dawn. A waterway opened and the boat began to sink.
We left it stabilized with its two upper levels still out of the water.
The captain and part of the crew are still Sataya. The divers and the rest of the crew returned to Hamata with the zodiacs, then to Hurghada by bus.
A week later…
The boat is still in the water and insurance is lying around… We hope the lifting crew will be on site by Sunday. The objective is obviously to refloat the Exocet and try to bring it back to the Safaga shipyard. It will not be an easy task, but we always hope to see the Exocet afloat one day again… A lot of work in perspective and here is a new challenge which does not scare us! Serge, accompanied by Stéphane and Renzo, is already on his way to supervise operations.
Finally, yesterday we found the last boat for cruises until December. We are ready to welcome the divers, and Caroline and Aurélien are eager to go back to sea!
We will keep you updated in the coming days as the situation develops.
As for the weeks to come, we are maintaining the next cruises, and this until the end of the season, with a boat that we will charter in the days that follow, always in the spirit of Diving Attitude. Divers will of course have the choice to cancel their cruise, free of charge.
Thank you for all the messages of support and affection that we have already received. The Exocet is much more than a simple boat, as much for you as for us.
The Diving Attitude spirit is still there and the adventure continues. ”
See you soon, Helen and Serge.
