In a career of Bégard, in the Côtes d'Armor, a dive turned into a tragedy. Thursday, September 14, a 42-year-old man takes an exam in order to obtain his federal level 4 certificate. But during the exercise, he has cardio respiratory arrest. The emergency services then transfer him to the Brest hospital where the man is still between life and death.
The ascent without tip, says RSE, is a practice considered relatively dangerous in the world of diving and has been criticized several times. The individual must indeed ascend by exhaling his air according to very precise stages and depths. The 42-year-old victim is fired.
This incident is now reviving the controversy over the feasibility, not without risk, of this examination. As a reminder, its exercise, in serious circumstances, can cause embolism.
For its part, the French Diving Federation recalled that its "Two joint ambitions" were "Maximum safety as well as solid training leading divers, especially those who supervise others, to face any situation in their development area."
She says she wants to investigate ”The conditions of the accident victim's profile and history [and the] exact conditions for the exercise, in particular respecting the end of the ascent to no more than - 10m so as to weaken the variations in absolute pressure. ”
Pending the conclusions of the investigation, the French Federation is suspending the “CSR to minus 10 m” test, as requested in the examination of N4 and MF2, pending the availability of factual or analytical elements.
