Shark Education has existed for many years. Founded by Steven Surina in 2011, Shark Education is today the most successful educational program in France. Steven has already published previously two books. Each one was a success, especially his last work with Greg Lecoeur, a shark interaction guide, a real Bible for divers. This year, Steven is renewing himself with a new project with a documentary series entitled "Legacy". “Le Seigneur du Large” is the pilot of the series, produced by Patrick Metzlé. The episode is directed by Guillaume Bourg and Pierre-Etienne Larrous.
The concept of the documentary is to introduce celebrities to the various species of sharks. Following this discovery, they automatically become ambassadors for the shark cause. ”
"Le Seigneur du Large" takes place in the Red Sea at Hurghada, here accompanied by the director Kounendefying shark longimanus. This shark is one of the most beautiful, atypical because of its fins and rounded fins and white spots that characterize it. This shark is also one of the most bellicose, so always stay on guard. It is in this context that Shark Education takes its full dimension. Steven, underwater rock star, leads the dance and allows Jan Kounen to discover the grace of longimanus from every angle.
Steven with "Legacy" would be a form of continuity of Rob Stewart's film "Sharkwater."
Sharks have needed a new ambassador since Rob Stewart passed away and Steven could be the one who would be able to take up the torch, (but for that, the series would have to be aimed at English speakers as well). We regret that the episode is so short (28mn) and we would have liked to see more interaction between Jan Kounen and the longimanus. There is a certain noticeable length concerning the introduction to the launching. However, there are some breathtaking images.
All in all, “Legacy” is a wonderful project and we hope to see Steven Surina again very soon, who is definitely a good actor behind the cameras. “Legacy” is a legacy story concerning him, but it is also a beautiful tribute for all his family. We find in this episode a rock'n roll spirit, which is like the Turpin-Surina.
We therefore invite you to watch and share this film (divers or not) in order to make them (re) discover the world of sharks. ”
