Aaaah I'm upset! I just started a petition on Avaaz.com to save stentorated vorticelli and only collected 5 signatures. While it would take 5000! Does anyone care about vorticelli or what? You know well, the vorticelli, those delicate microscopic animals that lived by the millions in a drop of water. Well, since the concrete is going everywhere where men are rampant (filth of a species that reproduces like rabbits) there will soon be no more a drop of free water. And therefore no more vorticelli. Nor paramecia, diatoms, amoebae… It's the last straw that makes Avaaz overflow.

How do we not see them? Well yes, under the microscope! Oh well, should we preferably save the "big" cash? With hair, feathers, scales? What size do we start at? Because the problem is that almost all species are endangered or may be missing, starting with man himself, the way things are going ... And what do we do with vegetables, fruits , plants ? Because it's alive too. And in nature everything is linked. We call it ecology, even. Yes, it is a science, not a political party.
Today not a day goes by without a petition to save this or that. It is very good. Hunters, fishermen are bad guys! And besides, I petition myself, repeatedly. But without illusions. Because in my opinion it takes a little more than signatures to push back those who empty the oceans by both ends.

We want to save what looks like us. And especially the idea that we have it. Doesn't this cackling dolphin look human? These orcas, these whales… They are trying to communicate with us, that's for sure. Except that we are reasoning from our point of view. Our animal friends (30 million it seems) probably have nothing to do with the 60 million consumers and their good feelings, apart from the fact that we are their main suppliers of kibble ...

All this to tell you that the anthropomorphism that is the rule in divers and all the protectors of nature can be misleading. There is a gradation in the species to be protected. We rebel against whalers while exterminating the clouds of mosquitoes that spoil the stay of tourists in tropical hotels.
