You are a bit lost in the current range of diving lights, and you may be struggling to find the model that perfectly meets your expectations. I present to you the MOLI 1400SF and 1400R3 diving lights, newcomers, who are serious contenders for the one you are looking for…
And without going there, I can tell you that MOLI headlights stand out! Here are the reasons…
MOLI diving light
When you unpack the small Moli lighthouse from its case, it is very difficult to suspect the rendering that one can have with this object which fits in the palm of your hand! Yet 1600 lumens of lighting power are delivered by this headlight, although it is given by the German manufacturer for 1400. But the laboratory measurements are unanimous, the real value is 1600 lumens!
Teardrop shaped and weighing barely more than 200 grams, MOLI lamps are exceptional for video since their lighting angle is 165 ° underwater, with homogeneous lighting and without any point hot. An easy-to-use wheel allows you to adjust the headlight power to 1600 lumens, 1200 lumens or 350 lumens with respective autonomy of 55min, 2h and 7h. There is also an SOS mode (flashing lamp), and the risk that the headlight turns on alone accidentally during transport (the wheel is quite flexible and protrudes from the headlight) is compensated by a mode which allows to block the ignition. (leaving the wheel pressed for 4 sec) and to unlock it, it will suffice to go back and forth with the said wheel.
Two versions exist with the SF model which provides only white light with 6 peripheral and 3 central LEDs, and the R3 model, whose 3 central LEDs are red. A version which in particular makes it easier to approach wildlife when you want to take pictures at night.
Diving light, MOLIE is equipped with an internal battery. The headlight is very easily recharged, by plugging the rapid charger directly into the end (the recharging time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes). No risk of drowning since the lighthouse is never open.
Equipment level, everything is designed to offer the user maximum ergonomics. It comes with a hand support that allows you to easily handle it with your fingertips, as well as a leash allowing it to be tied around the wrist. To fix it, simply add the optional 25mm ball joint attachment (to be used with a clamp and a carbon or aluminum arm) or the U base allowing it to be fixed on a flexible arm. The watertightness of the MOLIs is ensured up to a depth of 120m.
Apart from its remarkable capacities, this flagship of German manufacture (which thus implies a reduced ecological footprint), profits from the best European certifications (in particular environmental contrary to the products manufactured in China) and is classified “not dangerous matter by IATA” (Association air transport). It can therefore be transported as is by plane. The lighthouse and its battery are guaranteed for 2 years.
Before telling you about it, I used MOLI headlights for several months, during my dives in Marseille, and during my stay in the Red Sea, during day dives, wrecks and also during several night dives. Tested and now adopted!
