It is always a pleasure to meet and discuss with passionate people. During our exchanges, it was immediately the case. Claude Clin and Jean-Pierre Segones were enamored of nudibranchs and more precisely those of the Arcachon basin. Their passion quickly became an obsession as often in passionate people. So they decided to produce a movie around these small slugs.
Scubapeople interviewed claude clin for you:
When did you meet?
I crossed paths with Jean-Pierre thanks to the social network Facebook. Our many discussions and a chance meeting at his workplace eventually convinced me that it was time to implement the documentary project on nocturnal underwater life in the ambitious basin that Jean-Pierre had kept under his elbow without never be able to develop it.
In view of his rushes on nudibranchs, I immediately noticed the high quality of the images being aware of the difficulty of achieving them being myself a macro photographer ...
Why did you choose the Arcachon basin?
We are both from Bordeaux and fell in love with the extreme richness of the fauna of the Arcachon Basin.
We dive exclusively at night, many animal species are nocturnal, on land and in the sea. Nudibranchs in particular are more easily observed at night than during the day.
How long do you have to make the film?
The shots spanned almost four years, more than 35 species of nudibranchs ranging from 2 mm to just a few centimeters.
Are there multiple episodes?
There will be a second part of 52 minutes which, unlike the first which relates the specific diversity of Nudibranchs, will focus on the richness of the fauna of the Arcachon Basin. A photo book project is also underway for 2018.
