I'm going to tell you about one that happened to me yesterday in Spain.
a nice little 24 meters, a priest's visit, some nice guests and I guide. Everything to be happy!
unfortunately I lose a lead bag for the first time. Good prince, my buddy will look for it at the bottom. Paf I reclipe in the accommodation from my stab mares. 5 minutes later I lose it again !!!! not include? hands it over and continues
finally couldn't make the safety stop because I had 4KG in this one which I again lost on going up this time. The for a 24 meters still passes !!!!! what if it had been a deep one? that was the guaranteed stay at the caisson. Afterwards as often I analyzed the problem I had two pellets of 1,5KG each, these went to the bottom of the pocket and as soon as I put my head down they hit the top of it and given the weight it was enough to unclip !!!!
really not perfect this material and excessively dangerous I do not understand how the manufacturer has not yet noticed? other manufacturers like aqualung prolt have the same problem
too much weight in a pocket certainly !!!! but above all, no double security! of course i will perform ilico-presto !!! a personal modification because there is a great danger on dives requiring stages because it is practically impossible under ballast to hold the said stage! it should be noted that Mares are not the only ones not to apply this double security. In addition, the purges which have a plastic handle float happily behind. to search for them you waste precious seconds following the thread from the drain valve. there too not to the point

Spread the word! and especially warn the manufacturers who are already aware but who still do not make the changes. So choose your stabs carefully when you buy

Hi Alain, everything is said!
Regards
nothing beats a good old belt what!
not necessarily
but it is imperative that the builder revises its design
yes absolutely we have to warn them so that they make changes too if no one tells them they can't know.
Same thing happened to me ! lost pool pocket at the start of the dive and could not find it I had not done the same analysis, simply thinking that I had clipped it wrong, but actually I now think that it is plausible that the lead by pressing unclips the pocket of the stab ... J ' I opted for the pockets to remove faster and above all to avoid back pain with the belt… I went back to the belt!
Hello Franck
it's a mishap that has happened to all those who have lead pockets or that will happen ...
I notice that, for my part, it happened to me to lose so many weight belts and weight pockets !!!
Equipment manufacturers are working on this, but it is also good to remember that divers MUST think about this possibility and how to AVOID and REACT.
Without going into details, we can remind you that planning an ascent to a FIX POINT (mooring, buoy, drop) allows you to stand and therefore to do your landing, even without lead.
Distribute the weights (4 kg in a pocket is a lot) and dive light (it depends on the physique, the material, but especially the learning).
Good bubbles
totally agree with you franck
Weird…. I will therefore be a Martian !!!!
I have never had this type of problem even though I have been diving for years with weight jackets and whatever the brand of the BC (MARES, SEAC SUB or SCUBAPRO).
It is true that I simply dive with 2 kilos (1 kg in each pocket) which limits the risk of loading block stab. Same thing with an aluminum block or I can go to 5-6 kilos depending on the combination. In the latter case I spread the load between each pocket clipped and the small pockets behind.
Only problem with the weight pockets… .. go down to the surface and pass his block to get back on the boat…. ouh la la I pity the one who goes up the block. The remedy: I first go through my weight pockets…. that I even have trouble unclipping on my T-Black.
In any case, my back says thank you: I am very happy to have abandoned the belt (ouch, ouch my kidneys….)
Small sharing of experience
Response from the importer who does the necessary alleluhia !!!
*Hello,
As the month of August is a vacation period for most companies, please excuse us for answering now.
Regarding the incident you had with the loss of one of the pockets in the ballast of your MARES vest, I can only deplore this bad experience.
As you mentioned, depending on the dive profile this experience could have been trickier to handle if there had been decompression stops to perform.
However, in the development of our products, "optimum quality and safety" is our priority!
I can assure you that this experience remains an extremely rare case; we are one of the world's leading 3 vests, if a problem like this was common, we would have done what we could to fix it as soon as possible.
However, your amendment proposal is quite interesting. I will immediately forward it to our research and development department in Italy.
While wishing you pleasant dives, I remain at your disposal if necessary.
Sincerely,
Benjamin LENGRONNE

Bonjour à tous
Franck there are weighted harnesses which are easier to wear and free the stab from too much lead

Hello,
Like Isabelle, I have never experienced this problem with my ProQD which I have been using for a little less than ten years.
I never exceed 2 kg in each front pocket.
A friend who owns another Aqualung vest (I forgot the model) lost a pocket and added a safety piece to each pocket with a snap hook which he attaches to one of the vest's hooks.
