We are far from Mexico and far from our daily lives.
You certainly know of name, fame, or to have dipped there, las Islas Socorro, also called Revillagigedos.
Today this gem of scuba diving, where you can see with great pleasure manta, dolphins, whale sharks, and many other things - I can't tell you, having not been there yet - is threatened because the Mexican government is not enforcing the ban on sport fishing in this protected area.
I am French, living in Mexico, and my Mexican diver network alerted me to these increasingly frequent behaviors. The main national channel, Televisa, even filmed and published it.
I leave you the extract - in Spanish - attached: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji-C7zQCnC0
We don't want a protected gem to go missing. A petition has been opened (in Spanish) calling for the Mexican government to take responsibility and enforce the law, and actually help enforce the fishing ban in this protected area.
I ask you 5 min of your time to help preserve this wonder.
Here is the link (the text is in Spanish):

For those who do not know, here is an overview of a trip made in Dec 2012 by my local dive club:

Help us make noise, to go beyond the national sphere. The preservation of this place is imperative!
Thank you in advance for signing the petition and spreading the message!

For me too it's done!
We hope that many of us will continue to work for this cause.
The creeks are a beautiful place deserving their protection.
Divers friends do the necessary !!!
