The Lion Fish (Pterois volitans) has just arrived in Port Louis.
In two days, 3 specimens were observed at dive sites.
Originating in the Indian and Pacific Ocean, six specimens of Pterois would have escaped in 1992 from an aquarium in Florida. In less than 10 years, he is in our waters! This is explained by the fact that the female is able to lay 30 eggs every 000 days! Carried away by the current, the eggs and larvae disperse quickly.

Nice photo, you have to watch the development closely, right?
5 shark attacks on average per year. How many sharks die from the loobying of shark fin soup, several million.
very often, sharks are hunted for their fins and released. But a shark without fins is without defenses, nor means to move to feed, so it dies slowly.
Not convinced ? watch the Excellent Rob Stewart film “Sharkwater”
