What could be better than a cruise to discover the beauty of the Red Sea underwater?
Far from the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns near which the coral reefs have suffered relatively, the cruise allows the diver to access less frequented diving sites. It offers a variety of sites such as fabulous wrecks, beautiful drop offs or beautiful colorful coral reefs full of fish that surround a turquoise blue lagoon ...
Personally, it is really the Cruise option that I prefer for diving in the Red Sea: “eat, dive, sleep” sums up the rhythm of a week on a boat.
And this time (yes, this is not my first cruise in the Egyptian waters ...), I had the chance to sail on the EXOCET, one of the 3 most beautiful cruise ships of the Red Sea ... that propose Hélène and Serge, of DIVING ATTITUDE.
Luxurious 37m long boat, it offers a huge saloon to share meals, spacious cabins, each with toilets and a large hot shower, a deck that allows you to easily equip yourself, and a launch downright “red carpet”!
As for the dives, Diving Attitude offers 2 types of cruises. The LATITUDE 27 and the LONGITUDE 34, which offer different routes, but which offer both must-see sites in the Red Sea: the wreck of the Thistlegorm, or Ras Mohamed for example.
Me, it's LATITUDE 27 that I made. It offers a very complete circuit, since it goes north on Ras Mohammed to descend to the Brothers, with fabulous dives such as the wreck Numidia for example.
But due to a strong wind warning which would have prevented us from going to the Brothers, we had to reverse the initial direction of the cruise. Good choice of the Captain, because we would have missed a magical and unexpected encounter in Small Brother: that of a manta ray!
Beyond this surprising encounter, the rest of the cruise kept all its promises: wrecks, then numerous drop-offs inhabited by a myriad of anthias, splendid alcyonarians in brilliant colors, immense gorgonians, but also moray eels in open water or in their hole, wrasse, turtles….
Finally, for the very last dive, the team had reserved a very nice surprise for us…: a dive with dolphins on Shaab el Erg!
Me who took a flight earlier, I could not do this dive ... but I still had the incredible chance to swim on the surface with them, thanks to the invaluable indications of the staff of the boat who had spotted them from the sundeck of EXOCET! What a magnificent experience to be able to follow with your gaze a squadron of 11 dolphins that had formed 10 meters below… Absolutely magical moment!
The cruise ends, with beautiful images in mind, and good times spent on board with the supervisors (well done Clémence and Gaby for the quality of the briefings on the big screen!) And the other divers, just as passionate as me ...
Aperitifs organized spontaneously at the end of the day around a very cold beer (the EXOCET has a real beer pump, yes!), Cheese and sausage generously brought back by the divers, to the delight of Clémence and Gaby ...
Finally, a big thank you to the super attentive crew (special mention to the cook, Bravo Chef!) And to Hélène and Serge for their welcome aboard the EXOCET.
Well, when are we going back to do LONGITUDE 34 now ?????
