The Toulonnais was resting from 1991 in the port of Monaco. The government decided to proceed with its removal for 3 reasons:
- Constitution of a gene in the port
- Willingness to create an artificial reef
- Creation of an attractive site for recreational and scientific diving (observation of professionals of the colonization of this wreck)
This 27-meter, 300-ton tug was moved at the end of March over nearly 1 km to find itself at the foot of the oceanographic museum at a depth of 30 meters, at the origin of this project: Pierre Frolla who will inaugurate this new diving spot with His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco on April 13, 2014.
Yesterday I dived on it, the wreck is not yet very “dressed” but we can already observe nudibranchs, groupers, lobsters and many small fish which come to amaze you.
