Hooks in the eyes of a manta “calls for help” from the divers.
The scene takes place on the Australian west coast. Photographer and guide Jack Wilton was in the water when this stingray, considered one of the most intelligent of sea creatures, approached him.
The stingray stands next to him as if asking for help, it is only when he gets closer to her that Jake notices the many hooks hanging near his eye.
Jake frequents this spot regularly and is convinced that the oceanic manta has recognized him. It took him several dives in apnea to rid the animal of these hooks that are sadly found on many animals.
