A few years ago, Francine Kreiss only lived for the competitions. This outstanding sportswoman had even obtained a title in 2011 champion of the world of bubbles.
Today, she decided to go back underwater, but this time accompanied by apneists and photographers to imagine a book: "Immersions".
How to sum up Francine Kreiss… by Jêrome Espla
The absolutely improbable becomes a disconcerting evidence ...
Frequenting Francine Kreiss, it is to run out of battery of boat, to slam a helicopter hose on take-off, to lose its air ticket between the footbridge and the cabin, to make the tigers to Aliwal shoal and not to see during 7j , absolute record ...
Well, it's not just that, it's also the pleasure of getting into her completely crazy bubble, an incredible blue bubble filled with poetry, Belgian comics and tea. It's diving with the humpback whales at sunset, being flirted by a 4m shark, or looking into the eyes of a mola-mola over 2500m with a back whale ...
This bubble is a wind of freshness in the middle of the spray. It must pass the cap of absolute bad luck, after that is happiness!
Immersions, the book
“So I'll tell you why this book is an intellectual and visual obligation.
Maupassant is dead, Cousteau too, Mayol do not speak about it, so in a modesty that suffocates me, this book replaces them all.
Funny jokes aside, this book is not a book. It is a door to a world engulfed where several photographers invite you in apnea in unusual places, for strange encounters in unlikely contexts.
Immersions is an invitation to explore the underwater world but with the eyes of freedivers who think that apnea is sometimes something other than a descent on a clothesline dangling in the abyss, to go pick a plate encrypted.
To summarize the spirit. We Apniks, (* see the preface of the book) what we have retained from the movie The Big Blue, are the pasta dishes and sex appeal of Uncle Louis.
Apnea is a tool of exploration, a big toy to have fun under any surface. We will take you to the aquarium of Prince Albert of Monaco, under the belly of humpback whales, in the snout of real underwater pigs, in the hollow of tiger shark fins, in the wells of the forbidden catacombs, in the waters formidable glaucous Marineland, etc.
The chapters are classified by continent, because the Apnik has the fidget.
He sees water, he dives! And as the Earth is filled with water, the Apnik tickles all the continents.
The adventures are accompanied by texts more or less doubtful in which I tell what I felt in each of these apneas.
Because apnea is also a time of reflection. You hang your breath but not your mind. You cut yourself off from the world but not from life. Those seconds that get longer as minutes will boost all your sensory and emotional sensors.
This book would never have been born if I had not had the privilege of crossing over the years photographers, great reporters, freedivers, journalists .... exceptional with whom I shared all these adventures. Everyone has put his eyes, his visual paw, which fills Immersions of originality.
