The World Underwater Image Festival will take place for the third consecutive year at the Palais du Pharo in Marseille, from October 26 to 30, 2011.
This year, hard-hit Japan will be in the spotlight.
2011 ENTRIES ARE OPEN

The “Trio-photo”, launched last year was a great success with more
of 100 competitors. This competition offers photographers the opportunity to present three digital images without any style constraint. It is aimed at everyone, professionals and amateurs like all Festival competitions, but its implementation is aimed especially at amateur competitors who do not have the possibility of providing a series of 10 images each year as requested by the Portfolio competition. Participants in this new competition can participate in the other competitions of the Festival, as long as their images do not appear in two different categories.
Some reminders to photographers:
The “Our World Underwater Scolarship Ocean Society” Prize will be awarded to a photo presented in one of the Paper Photo categories (Color or Black & White) made by a young photographer under 25 years old.
The French Association of Conchology (AFC) Prize and the “Jorge Albuquerque” Prize will be awarded either to images entered in the “Conchology” competition proper, or to images entered in other photographic competitions (Photo, Portfolio, Trio -Photo). As every year, the “André Laban, la passion du bleu” Prize will reward an image in the “Color photo” category.
Please note, the “Apnea” Prize for the best photograph of an apnea subject is not a competition, it is a prize which will be awarded on this theme to the best image entered in the various photo competitions (Portfolio, Color photo, Black photo and white, Trio-photo). The same goes for the “Ocean Geographic Society” award for the best jellyfish image. Think about it when making your photo selections.
On the website www.underwater-festival.com you will find the rules and the possibility to register. Review the rules to avoid mistakes.
Closing date of registration of the work (imperative): 15 september
The Festival is open to all, professionals and amateurs and to all lovers of the underwater world.
