The famous mail order brand has just been slapped on the fingers! In the pages of the new online catalog, a T-Shirt with Japanese motifs, extolling in English the merits of shark fin soup… while specifying that the fish was “freshly caught”! The result was not long in coming, public outcry and a call for a boycott on the distributor's Facebook page.
An ocean of excuses
The T-Shirt was of course immediately withdrawn from sale, and the group's communications officials have since been spreading apologies. As for the purchasing manager, who says he based his choice only on very fashionable Japanese motifs, he also officially apologized on the social network.
There is still work to raise public awareness of shark protection around the world!
