Those who dream of becoming an adventurer, kangaroo healer or even a photographer will be delighted. The Australian Tourist Board has launched a competition to land one of the six “best jobs in the world.”
Ben Southall will remember this for a long time. In 2009, it was this Englishman who won the first competition organized by Tourism Australia. He had been the lucky one, among 35.000 applicants, to become for six months the privileged guardian of the paradise island of Hamilton on the Great Barrier Reef. He had thus visited the place, done diving and parachuting.
This year, the organization is seeing the big picture. The tourist office does indeed offer not one, but six dream jobs in Oceania. The competition was open to young people over the age of eighteen (preferably under 30), eligible for an Australian provisional work visa and originating from France, the United States, Great Britain or even from Japan.
The lucky winners will receive A $ 100.000 for a semester of “work”, including salary and expenses.
The six winners will be dispatched to six Australian states across the country. The offers are varied and will make the candidates dream. Thus, one of the winners will become the guardian of a natural park extended on the wild beaches of Queensland in the east. Another elected will become a photographer in Melbourne.
Other uses are more original. Participants will compete in particular to become “chief funster” in Sydney. The winner will be immersed in the heart of major local festivals such as the Sydney Festival, the Vivid Festival but also the New Year's fireworks from the city's harbor. In particular, he will have to promote the events by writing reports.
One of the jobs, the “taste master” will be to tour restaurants, wineries and other wineries in Western Australia. He will be in charge of tasting everything, from food to wine.
One of the winners will become an Outback adventurer. He will thus be able to travel through the Australian hinterland and meet the natives.
Finally, the nature ranger will have to take care of the kangaroos and can also swim with dolphins and sea lions. He will also be brought to visit and explore the island of the Kangaroos.
This viral advertising campaign aims to promote tourism in Australia. According to the Queensland Tourist Board, the state saw a 15-20% increase in bookings in the first edition of the competition.
“The competition is a great way to get more young people from all over the world to spend their holidays in Australia, but also to work there by filling one of the many vacant tourism jobs,” explained the director of Tourism Australia.
To try to win the competition, the candidates are invited to post a video of about XNUMX seconds to explain why they want to participate in this adventure.
