Terms of Access
- Be 18 years old
- Hold the AFPS or PSC1
- Present a medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of underwater diving activities dating back less than 3 months.
- Have validated the pre-training
Pre-training registration:
- Have passed the level tests or hold level IV of French diver for less than 5 years
Registration for level tests:
- Be a holder of the 3 level

The first degree underwater diving sports instructor exercises independently his
activity, using technical supports for underwater diving within the limits of regulatory frameworks. He is responsible for education. It ensures the safety of third parties and the public for which it is responsible. He is responsible for the activity project which is part of the structure's project.
1- It supervises all types of public in a leisure activity:
- It welcomes and supervises all audiences in the practice of underwater diving.
- He guides and guides dives in an artificial environment or during an exploration in a natural environment up to the 60 meters zone.
2- It supervises discovery, initiation and animation activities:
- He initiates and perfects the practice of underwater diving (from beginners to 4 level) and the various competitive disciplines of the diving activity: underwater hockey, orientation, spearfishing, swimming with fins.
- He organizes his activity, while preserving the physical integrity of the practitioner, in the conditions of safety in accordance with the regulations and within the framework of the educational project of the institution.
- It organizes, leads and leads animation and training projects - in an artificial or natural environment up to the 40-meter zone - by integrating learning and improvement cycles adapted to the level and characteristics of the public.
3- He participates in the operation of the structure and the design of an animation project:
- It organizes and implements a risk prevention system.
- It implements rescue and first aid interventions to assist a diver, in immersion or on the surface.
- It uses a diving support vessel.
- It optimizes the use of the diving equipment fleet as well as surveillance and intervention equipment. It optimizes the use of the inflation station and ensures air management and distribution.
- It promotes the practice of underwater diving, organizes events within the structure and can animate stands in the salons.
- He participates in the functioning as well as in the administrative and financial management of the activities proposed within the structure.
Terms of access to certification
Part common to all the options of the BEES 1st degree diploma:
- written and oral examinations on the human and biological sciences, the institutional, socio-economic and legal framework; the management, promotion and communication related to these activities; sportsmanship.
Part specific to the underwater diving option:
- A selection test (only for level III)
- A pre-training sanctioned by an examination

At the end of this training, a final exam:
- general test consisting of a writing on the technical aspects of underwater diving (writing made up of two independent groups of questions - one group deals with predominantly theoretical subjects and the other with predominantly practical subjects); an oral presentation on the socio-economic and legal environment of underwater diving.
- Educational test consisting of the presentation and conduct of a practical session in the environment and a theoretical teaching session of diving; an interview with the jury allowing the candidate to analyze his two theoretical and practical sessions and to justify his educational choices.
- technical test consisting of a practical test: ascent of a 25 m diver, allowing the candidate to demonstrate his adaptation to the environment; his sense of observation and his ability to adapt his behavior to the situation encountered and to its evolution; his physical capacity; its consideration of security parameters; an oral examination on the technical regulations of the diving certificates of the French federation of underwater studies and sports (FFESSM), the interrelationships with those of the members of the advisory committee for diving education and international equivalences.
The diploma is delivered to the candidate having obtained these two parts of certification.
