After the controversial result of the European Parliament's vote on December 10 on the ban on deep-sea trawling, the Intermarché fleet, the Scapêche, "reached out" to NGOs to reflect on the group's deep-sea fishing practices. of the North-East Atlantic.

Yesterday morning, after several weeks of discussions, Scapêche, BLOOM, a member of the Deep Sea Conservation Coalition (a coalition of more than 70 NGOs), and WWF France reached an agreement, the result of a real compromise: while the European Parliament had proposed a ban on deep trawling beyond 600 meters depth, Scapêche undertakes to stop, by early 2015, fishing with bottom trawls beyond 800 meters depth.
