For some time now, we have seen an increase in the number of attacks on swimmers by sharks. We even saw a shark hunt in Egypt linked to these events last month: but at the origin of the evil: Man unconscious enough to throw meat waste into the sea.
If our place is naturally on earth, it would be wise to respect the aquatic fauna: after all, we are their guests.
Several points can be put forward in the face of these events: to create a sensation, the media are eager to communicate about these attacks to sell sadly picturesque events. Then, it is clear that we travel more and more, and that today we are offered the possibility of going to more secluded places where humans have not gone until then: curiosity for our hosts animals, and want to see what we are. Then, let's not forget the Shark-Feeding which attracts a good number of tourists looking for sensations, thrills, but disrupting the behavior of sharks which are predatory by nature, and certainly not likely to be fed like fish in a jar. !
There are only 5 shark attacks on average per year in the world, which is anecdotal, compared to attacks by elephants, crocodiles, not to mention dogs.
A general awareness would be welcome, but how can we reason with humans and remove their unjustified phobia of animals: know that sharks are more afraid of us and, conversely, we shouldn't have them? to fear. So, once again, shame on the film "Les Dents de la Mer", author of too many absolutely unjustified clichés! For having had the chance to share intense moments with sharks, we can assure you that a single immersion in their company will make you forget all danger in less than a minute.

Hello Isa!
Could you explain to us a little more details this sacrifice of Tetiaora please? It is certainly interesting, but we have little evidence to judge it.
Thank you
Totally agree !
Thank you for this post, everything is said there… This great lord knew how to endure and fight the vagaries of the earth
evolving, adapting since the tertiary era when we didn't even exist. Today our predation has brought many species to the brink of extinction, we are responsible for it. It is our duty to inform people in order to educate them before it is too late ...
I don't quite agree with Aurélie on the fact that we are throwing meat into the sea
It has always existed and even in larger quantities. whole dead animals were also dumped during the transport of live meat. All the waste on board was thrown into the water. I know something about it when the first diver with André Galerne in the Sea of Cortes in 1954 we embarked aboard the Guaymense, a 50 M ship, for a film campaign on the camarones (Gambas)
The cook threw everything in the stern and the sharks followed. Needless to say that at this time when no one dived alongside these animals, this kind of appetizer worried me greatly.
Surprised when we got into the water during a station they were no longer there.
Force-fed, no doubt! This is the only explanation, although simplistic certainly, that we had found.
For the rest of what Aurélie says I agree adding that the number of divers and swimmers has greatly increased, sharks having nothing to eat because of overfishing, we are the ones on the menu !!!
Hello, totally agree with you, I also had the opportunity to dive with whole schools of sharks in French Polynesia and lemon sharks .. they are not interested in humans .. and are so majestic ...
Thanks Everyone, I'm delighted that we agree: let's get the info out! See you soon !!!
I advise you all, a film by Rob Stewart “the lords of the sea”… Very nice film report where we understand the role of sharks on our planet…. Alas, the “teeth of the sea” have made a lot of evil sharks… I strongly advise you to watch it and let people know it around you… .. See you soon under water, among the silence and the bubbles …………………
I recommend a film by Rob Stewart ”the lords of the sea”, to see and re-watch !!!
See you soon under water, in the middle of the oceans ...
As the charming Geraldine rightly points out, the shark has adapted to all the trials of nature, except one… Man!
Of which Bompard asked "if he would survive his civilization"
The shark he goes there like the rest, the cod, the cod, the bluefin tuna! We will eat everything, we scrape the bottom of the sea, and the sharks we cut the fins to make Chinese soup.
So maybe these animals are like elephants, they have memories? And they say to themselves that now it's our fins that will go through it.
In any case I ask them not to feast with the long legs of Geraldine, they are too beautiful!
