Women in the spotlight
By asking Sandra Bessudo, High Presidential Advisor for Environmental Management in Colombia, President of the Malpelo Foundation, to inaugurate this fourteenth edition with her, Hélène de Tayrac sets the tone: this year's show will be feminine. Divers conferences, fashion shows, but also destinations where diving also rhymes with discovery and escape: because a third of divers are divers, and the proportion is constantly increasing, there will be a little more at the show this year. glamorous than usual.
Cape Bahamas, and scuba diving trips
And among the destinations honored this year, the Bahamas are part of this lineage: we will rediscover some treasures of the turquoise archipelago, including the famous Small Hope Bay Lodge, on the island of Andros, first Dive lodge that opened its doors from 1960. A place where underwater exploration and discovery of nature and craft activities coexist, where you can swim with dolphins as well as enjoy a relaxing massage. Other destinations will be showcased, on the same concept: we do not just go to dive relentlessly, discovery and idleness must also be part of the trip.
An exhibition dedicated to our history
Another important event on this 2012 edition, an exhibition dedicated to the history of diving: on 200 m2 will be presented old equipment, professional equipment, loaned by the Frédéric Dumas Museum of Sanary sur Mer and by former members of Comex. As part of the various conferences proposed, we will also come back to the beginnings of the underwater adventure, evoking the pioneers of the Var, Yves Le Prieur who invented the scuba 1926 in the first flippers of Louis de Corlieu.
VIP guests
Throughout the show, conferences, screenings, book signings will also allow you to meet some great names in diving, and share their experience with them: François Sarano, Sandra Bessudo, Fred Buyle, Pierre Frolla, Nathalie Lasselin will be present. , Pascal Bernabé, and many others. We will talk about history, but also environmental protection, apnea or caving. The program of conferences and events is already available on the website of the Salon de la Plongée.
