The Wreck of the Alcione C
This morning meeting at 9 am in the port of Taverna with David to go for a little tour of the wreck of the Alcione. We see the boat from the Local Diving Club leaving on the wreck of the P47 in Punta d'Arcu, they are very much for this P47, but luckily they do not come to ours.
After launching the boat, then loading the gear, head for the wreck, the sea is oil and the sun is slightly hidden by some clouds. After a little quarter of an hour, we look in vain for the fixed anchorage of the wreck, it seems that it is no longer there, we will anchor.
Descent into the blue, visibility today is not at its maximum but lets see the wreck. We start our visit and especially our snapshots, some atmospheres, and then arriving on the passageways, large Groupers are there seeming to wait for a photoshoot. We will start by shooting them, after a few minutes they almost come into contact and really pose in front of our lenses. A quick turn inside will allow you to meet the Corbs Bank, then a turn to the rear of the wreck to finish this beautiful dive, depth 33,8 meters on the sand, time on the bottom 51 ′ with 7 minutes of landing, thank you Mr. Nitrox.

Thank you Thierry… The G. Cone is between 6 and 10 cm.
Yes indeed, you are right to talk about gripping this mollusk, in the way of taking it, we can avoid being stung ... do we still have to stay particularly careful, because with this “bug”, if you are not careful… or for a non-specialist, you simply play “Russian roulette"...
So, as Christophe L. said: “Not touch"!
Thank you Steph
It makes you want to 😉
Thank you, yes a beautiful dive and I thought of you who wanted to shoot grouper, there they pose in front of the lens a real treat !!!
Hi Stephan,
Can you tell me STP in which area is this wreck?
Your images are very nice, in particular the one with the grouper (The 9th). We understand how much you had to feast! it's true that it makes you want 😉
Hello Géraldine,
The wreck is located south of Moriani (Corsica). I wrote an article in the last Octopus Dive N ° 9 on its history and how to dive on it.
Best regards
My blog
Thanks for the additional info Stephan,
I'll take a look, well seen the article 😉
