I am more used to warm and tropical waters. But now, when I see the sea, it's stronger than me, I have to dip my fins in it!
So I took advantage of a weekend in Sainte Maxime to go see the famous wreck, Le Rubis, which is located off Cavalaire.
When Franck, the boss of H2O club of Sainte Maxime, announced to me that it was the destination of the weekend, I jumped for joy, because this submarine is often in the top 100 of the world wrecks!
Departure at 8:30 am, with a dozen divers on a boat well designed for diving. We curdle a bit during the crossing, but I can feel the excitement rising.
The 7 mm was not too much! Rock back and splash, here I am in water at 15 degrees ... brrrrr, and thin, it's stronger than me, first pee-combi!
We descend quietly for 2 minutes to finally reach the machine, which lies 40 meters deep (40,3 meters for me, scraping the sand a little!).
The wreck sunk by the French Navy for exercise purposes is superbly preserved.
We meet wreaths, moray eels and huge congers a little shy in the holes ...
After 18 minutes of exploration, it's time to go back up for a 15-minute stop. It's not easy to hold 15 minutes in water at 15 ° C when you can see the sun breaking through the surface… So, 2nd pee-combi!
Fortunately, to warm up, the regulars have planned everything: aperitif with garlic sausage, cheese and red wine on the way back.
As the saying goes, after the effort, there is comfort. In the end, there was more air than wine in the bottles 😉
In short, a beautiful dive that will reconcile many people with the Mediterranean, a very professional and well organized club, and a very good atmosphere on board. A delight for this Ascension weekend!

It's really a superb wreck to have done it again less than a month ago, it's still the same magic that operates when you arrive in front of it 🙂
For penetration the simple act of exhaling removes rust from the ceiling and the visi deteriorates very quickly, not to mention the palm stroke that moves the bottom lol
So it is better to ride light and have a good technique of unwinding the wire to venture inside.
But already seen from the outside it is simply superb then to your fins… 😉
A real pleasure I dive on the RUBY 2 3 times a year and really never luck of current. To make the pleasure last I dive to 32%. From Frejus with Nice Diving back we skirt the edge of beaches.
At 60m? no I prefer not to imagine seeing some results ...
