It was the soap of recent weeks: the team of Laurent Ballesta accused of having destroyed the coral reef during the filming of "700 sharks in the night" in the pass of Fakarava ! There followed an incredible buzz following the dissemination of a defamatory video on Facebook, at first, and the wise and well-argued response from Laurent, facing the camera. The case ended there with the removal of the video.
Plot!
Anyway ... In full distribution of the different versions of the film on Art, which producer could have dreamed of better than this controversy to ensure the promotion? Well I say that, just as the Earth is flat, they did it on purpose! It's a conspiracy. Zunino, Ballesta : you are not cheating on anyone! 🙂
I know most of the protagonists of this expedition, I even toured with several of them and I can tell you that indeed, their only goal in life is to destroy nature! On foot, on horseback, by car. They even organize coral hammering courses. It seems ... The first scientists: a cover. Exceptional films, capable of raising public awareness of sharks and their conservation? Nonsense! No, their foot is to deze the reefs with a jackhammer for (thousands) of square kilometers. It seems ... It may be time to also reveal, from a well-misinformed source, that the famous coelacanths ended up in sushi! It seems…
Laurent, who is a marine biologist and probably knows more about it than most of his detractors, will forgive me for this dive into the 2nd degree…
But obviously, prestigious sponsors, remarkable expeditions, all these premieres, these films: that is what stirs the jealousy of the "haters", quite simply. I am always wary of these "diving ayatollahs", quick to teach everyone. I have already told in a podcast on this site ("Hands off my arthropod!" ") a mishap that occurred during a shoot, in Polynesia exactly…
During a sequence we accidentally broke a small branch of coral. The instructor of a group of people passing by then rushed over to our underwater cameraman to revile her underwater with board strength, gestures and fury. And in doing so, she broke an entire mass of Acropora with her bottle bottom. Meanwhile, his abandoned divers were playing elephants in a porcelain store ...
Criminal associations?
Let’s see, in my turn… Who should I teach in this little post? Shark defense associations, of course! When I don't have an idea, I shoot associations! Do we not say criminal association? Separate diet? Partner litigation? This world does not smell good! Investigation… Assos to protect sharks? What next ?…
I don't give a damn about sharks! I'm afraid of sharks… For me, a good sea is a sea without sharks. Clean ! If in addition, we can eat them ... So, you think how I avoid the stupid spots. When diving, I protect my fins! So the associations… “Non-profit”, hey, my eye! Take for example Sharks Mission France animated by the petulant Fabienne Rossier. Everyone knows that not content to take in her free time, when she does not go out of her pocket, Fabienne is in fact getting rich shamefully on the backs of sharks! Scandalous. Its collection of tailors of great couturiers, its thousands of pumps, among other riches that it displays at will, are there to prove it.
Joking aside, if a single person were to change their outlook on sharks thanks to the voluntary actions of these associations, then that fully justifies their existence. Of course, we are more powerful when there are many of us. WWF, SeaShepperd, Bloom… So, why not merge all these “small” associations to be even stronger? But, if we follow this argument, there is simply no more free will or freedom of choice. And we are talking about democracy again ...
However, far from the stigmatizing "global warming" there are ecological disasters less publicized: the disappearance of primary forests, that of bees, of other innumerable species and in particular of sharks. A sea without sharks is the end of the oceans as we know them. Trust the specialists… It would be one of the greatest disasters, threatening even the survival of mankind. Quite simply.
So, live these associations. Small and large. Whether you like it or not.

I don't know if I laughed more at that than at the idea of the “collection of great couturiers' tailors, its thousands of pumps, among other riches” that Fabienne displays
Thank you for setting the record straight this way Francis Le Guen 😉
Glad to make you laugh! Usually that makes me laugh too. Before everyone else ... 🙂
Hello Hélène, when is the dynamite fishing!
