A recent study of spinal cord injured veterans in the United States, presented at a conference in Orlando, concludes that scuba diving could have particularly beneficial effects, both at home and abroad. muscle tone, sensitivity to touch, but also symptoms related to post-traumatic stress.
This first study was conducted on ten wheelchair veterans, injured an average of fifteen years earlier. Eight of them have completed their dive training courses to the end, and the positive findings could pave the way for further investigations in this area.
