From 13 to 25 May 2012 (Paris / Paris) cruise with a terrestrial extension
In the Pacific Ocean, at about 1000 Km off the coast of Ecuador, the volcanic archipelago of Galapagos and its main 13 Islands, is rightly considered as one of the cradles of animal life. Preserved continental life, it is a unique place in the world where nature reserves the most beautiful surprises. It is in this terrestrial and underwater paradise that we will board the Humboldt Explorer.
The volcanic seabed of the archipelago is above all extraordinary for the variety and quantity of pelagic fauna. Schools of jacks, barracudas, hundreds of scalloped hammerhead sharks, white tip sharks, Galapagos or silky sharks, leopard and manta rays, tuna, turtles, dolphins, sea lions ... Impossible to make one exhaustive list. Around the rocks of Wolf and Darwin you will even have the chance to perhaps meet whale sharks. Lovers of the smallest will go in search of the batfish endemic to this area of the Pacific, seahorses or anthenaria.
PROGRAM of the terrestrial extension
In Santa Cruz Island you will take a walk in the highlands to observe giant tortoises. While in Puerto Ayora, you will visit the Charles Darwin Research Center and explore "Tortuga Bay Beach" with its white sand beach where many marine iguanas live.
In North Seymour Island you will tour this natural haven where blue-footed boobies live, colonies of red goiter frigates and terrestrial iguanas. Guests can also explore the secluded Bachas Beach and snorkel in Flamingo Lagoon.
At Bartolomé Island you will enjoy some of the most spectacular panoramas of the Galapagos: Pinnacle Rock, an impressive structure of lava in shades of black, red and green that overlooks the ocean; a breathtaking view of Santiago Island, the neighboring island; small beaches of pink and white sand where generations of turtles have come to lay their eggs. It is also an opportunity to indulge in snorkeling with the Galapagos penguins, sea lions, turtles ...
