Each year, more than 70 million sharks are killed, victims of overfishing and shark finning. Their fins are mainly found in the plates of Asians who transform them into soups or so-called virtuous capsules. And apparently toxic. A team of American scientists analyzed the dorsal fin of seven species of sharks and detected a toxin in large quantities called BMMA (beta-N-methylamino-L-alanine). This molecule produced by bacteria is said to be the cause of certain neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzeihmer or Charcot's disease.
Researchers at the University of Miami, led by Kiyo Mondo, found BMMA levels on these fins much higher than those found in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. Usually, it is not present at all in the human body, the consumption of fins would therefore be toxic to humans.
According to scientists, the accumulation of BMMA in sharks is the result of the multiplication of cyanobacteria, which proliferate in the waters due to our pollution.
If fin consumers don't care about the threat of extinctionwhich weighs on about thirty species, perhaps they will be sensitized by endangering their health…

These pesky shark fin eaters get what they deserve - If they catch neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzeihmer or Charcot's disease, too bad for them that they eat salad it will do them the greatest well - I won't feel sorry for their spells
Yeah! if we told them nothing… 🙂
just revenge….
Being at the head of the food chain, the shark also causes (in addition to these neurodegenerative diseases):
- Neuro-digestive poisoning due to the ingestion of fish contaminated by microalgae present in corals and
- High concentrations of heavy metals such as mercury
They must be explained to these fin eaters that when they catch Alzeimer's disease they will quickly forget the so-called aphrodisiac benefits of their food. Bon appétit… .. But for our predators it will be too late!
it's fascinating: how an Asian can pay dearly to eat anything ...
and a French delight in foie gras!
Agree with all of you. Finally a good news, they will soon no longer remember that they love the shark and / or they will no longer have the strength to lift the fork! I will paste this article in English on the Pompom dive site (Semporna) which welcomes many Asians and I hope it will snowball.
Serves them right ! one day to the next you have to pay the bill. Not dirty enough! a good lesson that the new generations memorized well !!!
Argghhh! I understand that you are disappointed ...
Appointment for a small splash to my home you want. Kisses 😉
