The web portal http://lionfish.gcfi.org/, set up by the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), lists a lot of information on this fish accidentally introduced in this region of the globe.
In addition to the scientific fact sheets, the user will find photos, videos, educational tools and links to other web portals. The site also offers a number of ways to get rid of this invasive species. Because even if no miracle solution seems to have been found for the moment, various actions have already been put in place. Among them: pure and simple hunting, by divers, of this species. Attempts have also been made to educate other predators, such as sharks, to feed on lion fish. An "Eat Lionfish" campaign has even been launched to encourage local populations to consume this fish which, despite the presence of venom in its thorns, remains quite edible for humans and is delicious.
